Surgery Follow-up with the Ophthalmologist

We had Elli's surgery follow-up on April 30th with the pediatric ophthalmologist. It was a short appointment, but he said that he was pleased with what he saw. He said that her right eye looked perhaps a little exotropic now (i.e., it sometimes turned too far outward, instead of inward like it did before), but he said it was mild enough now that he wouldn't worry about it for awhile. If necessary, though, he said they can do another surgery to correct that. If that turns out to be necessary, he said that would potentially also has the side benefit of reducing some of the bouncing and wiggling that Elli's eyes do, so it may have some positive benefits. We'll probably find out more at her next appointment, which is later this summer.

The other thing they noticed at this appointment is that Elli no longer has a signficant preference for one eye over the other. I believe this is the result of the surgery, which is wonderful. We had thought that we would need to do some patching of one eye to strengthen the other, but at this point that doesn't look necessary.
